Visiting scholars coming to our department within the scope of Erasmus Teaching Staff Change
Dr Dimpho Takane Maponya and Dr Tony Shabangu, faculty members of the Department of Philosophy of the University of Johannesburg from South Africa, with which our university has an agreement within the scope of Erasmus mobility with KA171 countries, came to our department between 2-12 December 2024 within the scope of the exchange program. During the week, they gave seminars titled 'History of African Philosophy', 'Epistemology in African Thought' and 'Ubuntu applied and in practice' in various university departments. They also gave a seminar in the philosophy department on Wednesday, 04.12.2024. In the event, which was held with the participation of faculty members from our department and other departments, Dr. Tony Shabangu made a presentation titled 'What is Ubuntu?' and Dr. Dimpho Takane Maponya made a presentation titled 'Reversing the Gaze: A Limited Account of Epistemic Decolonisation'. The presentations of our visiting scholars, who also answered the participants' questions afterward, attracted great interest from the participants.
