Prof. Dr. Yavuz Unat made a presentation at the Fourteenth Session of the Philosophy Talks event.

The 14th session of the Philosophy Talks event organized by the Department of Philosophy was held on Friday, May 16, 2025, with the presentation titled “History of Astronomy in General Outline” by Prof. Dr. Yavuz Unat, faculty member of Kastamonu University Department of Philosophy.
In his presentation on the adventure of astronomy from its birth to the present day, Prof. Dr. Unat conveyed the historical development of this science comprehensively, from the birth of positional astronomy in Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Indian, and Chinese civilizations to the theoretical approaches in Ancient Greece; from the geocentric understanding of the universe in the Middle Ages to the modern astronomy shaped by the Renaissance.
The presentation, which was followed with great interest by the participants, ended with evaluations of modern astronomy's main problems. At the end of the event, Prof. Unat answered questions from the audience and was presented with a certificate of appreciation for his contributions.
