In the 15th session of the Philosophy Talks event, Assistant Professor Samet YAVUZ gave a presentation titled “Mechanical Toys in Turkish Culture.”

The 15th session of the Philosophy Talks event organized by the Department of Philosophy was held on Friday, December 26, 2025. At the event, Assistant Professor Dr. Samet YAVUZ at the Department of Motor Vehicles and Transportation Technologies at the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, shared his presentation titled “Mechanical Toys in Turkish Culture” with the participants.

The presentation explored mechanical toys in Turkish culture by classifying Anatolian moving toys from a machine theory perspective. Additionally, examples of ancient toys discovered in archaeological excavations in Anatolia were showcased, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of toys. Participants had the opportunity to evaluate mechanical toys, including rocking horses, cradles, hammered cart/car toys, and Karagöz-Hacivat figures, from both technical and cultural perspectives.

The presentation, which was followed with great interest by the participants, concluded with a question-and-answer session.
