Bartın University and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Organized a Panel Discussion Titled "Exploring the Dynamics of Freedom and Identity in Today's World" Through Academic Cooperation.

The international and interdisciplinary panel organized by Bartın University's Department of Philosophy in collaboration with Ivan Franko National University of Lviv was held under the title "Exploring the Dynamics of Freedom and Identity in Today's World."
The panel, moderated by Prof. Dr. Sedat Yazıcı, a faculty member of the Department of Philosophy at Bartın University, was held on October 28, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty of Literature at Bartın University. During the event, academics from both universities assessed the themes of freedom, identity, memory, and social transformation in today's world from diverse disciplinary perspectives.
One of the panel speakers, Associate Professor Nadiya Levus from the Department of Psychology at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv Faculty of Philosophy, who is also the faculty's vice dean, addressed the transformation of ethnic identity in contemporary conditions in her presentation titled "Transformation of Ethnic Identity in Contemporary Conditions." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natalia Hrebin from the same university's Department of Psychology examined the relationship between identity and feelings of shame and guilt during periods of conflict in her talk titled "Identity in Conflict: How Shame and Guilt Determine the Behavioral Strategies of a Modern Personality." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yulia Slipetska from the Department of Political Science evaluated the transformation of Ukraine's political institutions during the war process in her presentation titled "The Transformation of Ukraine's Political Institutions in Wartime." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zlatyslav Dubnyak from the Department of Philosophy discussed the threats to freedom and education during periods of occupation in his talk titled "Freedom and Education: Threats in Occupation Times."
Bartın University Sociology Department faculty member Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hicran Karataş addressed the formation and negotiation processes of hybrid identities in the context of diaspora in her presentation titled "Between Roots and Routes: Negotiating Hybrid Identities in Diaspora." Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lale Özdemir Şahin from the Department of Information and Records Management, in her talk titled "The Impact of War on the Collective Memory: Silencing of Archival Identity," evaluated the effects of war on collective memory and the processes of silencing archival identity.
The panel was a productive academic gathering that strengthened academic cooperation between the two universities and opened up a discussion on the concepts of freedom and identity in today's social and cultural contexts. The event concluded with the presentation of participation certificates to the speakers and a group photo.
